Handmade Book

Ever since Lilly was very small she has been obsessed with making books.  She went from simple folded paper, to multiple folded papers stapled together and now she's been looking up videos on YouTube on how to make books.  She found a pretty darn good one and begged me for 3 days straight to help her make one.  I finally relented and she wouldn't let me rest until it was done.  We are talking hand sewing 80 pages.  But it was kind of cool and the result is pretty good and Lilly is absolutely thrilled with it!  Now I'm making one for Max.

Ours isn't perfect but considering it cost us next to nothing, it's pretty cool! If you want to make one of your own here is the video we used.

Max's painting

I love this cute picture he made.  He said it was him (with the red shirt and blue pants)  and his dog (in yellow beside him.  *We do not have a dog by the way)  Then he changed it said it was a scarecrow and his dog.  Yes he still loves scarecrows.  See HERE for proof.

Watercolor Wednesday

No idea what week I am on, but having a 3 week break has been nice.  I actually WANTED to paint.  So here are the two I've been working on the last day or so.  A little rusty and not completely satisfied with the results but what can you expect when you haven't done any painting for 3 weeks.

Both were done from photographs.

Melted Crayon Rocks

This project is awesome!  I saw it on THIS blog.  I thought it looked like lots of fun so we gave it try.

First collect a bunch of rocks from your yard.  We have an over abundance.  I would suggest finding bigger rather than smaller rocks.
Place them on a foil lined cookie sheet in your oven (350 degrees) for about 20 minutes or so.  I'm not exactly sure on the time, we stuck ours in and then ate lunch.

Next gather a bunch of different colored crayons and remove the wrappers.  Or if your like me and your kids love to peel off the wrappers you won't have to do this step.
Take a rock out of the oven (with oven mitts) and place the rock on a piece of foil on top of a pot holder or fabric placemat.
Then touch the rock with the crayon and it instantly melts and runs all over the place!!! You can then paint with crayons.  Mix colors and overlap, it's really fun!!!!  Next time I'll be sure to do more rocks for me!
We place ours just outside our side door in the flower bed.  They really are lovely to look at!

Stewart Falls

On Saturday we decided to go for a hike.  We hiked to Stewart Falls.  It's a 4 mile (total) hike.  The kids once again did AWESOME!  We got one more crossed off our list!  (We want to hike as many trails as we can this summer and we are off to a good start.)

Getting a good picture of everyone is like pulling teeth.  Can't seem to get everyone looking at the camera and smiling at the same time.

Beautification Award

On Friday evening we came home to find a sign in our yard.  Max thought it was a For Sale sign.  Ha ha!

We received a gift card to a local nursery, although I have no idea for how much.  The card doesn't say.
Although I am flattered to receive the award and really quite embarrassed, I can't wait to take down the sign.

Summerfest 2012

Our city has a Summerfest event every year during the first weekend in June.  This year was no exception.  I LOVED coming to this Carnival when I was a little girl.  We've always taken our kids on a Friday night and it's always packed with people and I hate it.  This year, with us having our Pass of All Passes we decided not to go to the carnival.
It just so happened that my Mom was in the ROAD RESPECT ride again this year.  (click the link if you want to know what that is. )  One of their stops just happened to be at the park on Friday at 10:30 am to do a rally.   It is also the first day of Summerfest.  My Mom wanted my sister and I and our kids to meet her there and bring lunches and eat all together in the park.  So we did and the kids played at the playground and watched this guy juggling.

Then I started noticing that the carnival rides were starting to run and the ticket booth was open.  I didn't think they opened so early.  My sister and I decided to go buy some tickets and ride some rides just because there was nobody there.
So for almost 2 hours we had the carnival almost completely to ourselves.  We didn't have to wait one time.  Not one!  Not even for the Ferris Wheel which usually has a horrendous line.  We were the only people on most of the rides!  Here are some photo collages of our time there.

See nobody here!

Saturday evening Summerfest ended with Fireworks as usual!  And for the first time in our children's lives we attended.  There was no baby or small child who needed to get to bed, although we had to keep Max awake.

A fun time was had by all!

Summertime lovin' lovin' in the Summertime

Anyone who watches REGULAR SHOW???? Anyone????  We think it's hilarious.  If you've seen it, my blog title should make sense.  If not, well, then, you probably just think I'm a wacko.  YouTube it.  It's great.  Either way here are some pictures.

We really need to finish our fence so we don't  have to see any more neighbors.  Not that they are horrible people, I just would like some privacy.  It's just that pesky money problem.

Pass of All Passes

We got a deal on some Seven Peaks/Trafalga Passes through Lilly's school where we get in free to Seven Peaks and Trafalga and a bunch of other fun places for a year.
We've been to seven peaks twice and to both Trafalga's.  Orem and Lehi.
Here are some pics from the Lehi Trafalga.

He he we got ours for cheaper!! Thanks Geneva Elementary!!!

I love Lilly's little tongue sticking out!

I love Max's one eye shut!!  He loved being the "Gunny."

My first time driving a Go-Kart, Max chose Batman of course.
