Homemade Black Jeans

I am quite proud of these pants that I made for Max.  I found  2 yards of this awesome fabric at a local thrift store (D. I.) for cheap cheap cheap! I did lots of top stitching which makes the pants look more professional (I think).

Here is my little model, fresh outta the shower.
I had to put this picture in. Ha Ha!  This is how 90% of the pictures I take of him, turn out.  It's his "Punk Rock"  face! Ha ha!  what makes it even better is he does it all on his own.
I've still got quite a bit of material left over, I might make him a vest to go with the pants, to wear to church.  That or a skirt for Lilly, or me, we'll see.

Happy Birthday Dad!

The picture above is my Dad and the one below is Robert Redford in one of my fathers favorite movies Jeremiah Johnson.  I think my Dad is much better looking :)

Happy Birthday Dad!  Wish you were here!

Watercolor Wednesday Week 39....On Thursday

Not sure I like the openness of the center of the painting.  Kind of a no no.  Divides the picture too much.  The sky and birds help tie it in a little, but  not sure how I feel about this one.  It's been a couple weeks since I've painted and I'm feeling a little out of practice.  Just need to find the time to paint I guess.   Better luck next week.
This one above is greeting card size.

This one below was kind of a last minute thought.  Flew through it in a flash and I think I like this one better than the others.

Yo Gabba Gabba Bean Bags

YO GABBA GABBA has been a favorite of my children for a while now.  My nephew likes it now too and so I thought I would make these for him for the other part of his Christmas GIFT.  It's awesome because it has guest appearances by artists that I myself like.
It's been rumored that the name came from the RAMONES and although it makes sense I can't find any info confirming the rumor but  they are the only ones I know of that use the word Gabba.
The Ramones are one of my all time favorite bands.  Here is the famous (or not so much so if you're not into Punk Rock music) Song GAbba Gabba Hey!

Lilly's Star

So things have been crazy crazy crazy around here!  But Lilly asked me last night if she could make something for her teacher at school.  I asked her what she wanted to make and she said a star.  So I suggested one out of felt stuffed with Poly-fil and she agreed.
So we made a pattern and she cut it out the felt and woke up bright and early this morning  (yea!) to sew it.  I asked her if she wanted to use the sewing machine but she wasn't quite ready for that yet and she was happy to sew it by hand :)  That's how I started.
Then we wrapped it up and I remembered I was going to take a picture of the finished product.  Oops.  Just imagine that cute little star all stuffed and full.
She looks a little like an orphan with that fake, forced smile and messy bed head hair.
I need to help her make (sew) more things while she is eager to do it.   I've been thinking for a while now to teacher how to use the sewing machine.  I know kids younger than her (she is 7) can and have used a sewing machine.  I found THIS website that is awesome!  It has lots of different sewing projects for kids.  It starts with Preschool and goes up to Intermediate Level 5.  I think it would be fun to have her do all the classes.  Anyone have any tips on teaching a child to sew?

Superhero Box

This is part of a Christmas gift I'm giving to my nephew.  Peg people painted to look like superheroes and a nifty small lunchbox tin I decorated to keep them in.
This project was so much fun!  I thought it was going to take a long time (like weeks)  but I only painted for maybe 3 or 4 hours.
I hope he loves it as much as I do!  I can't get over how cute they look!
And anyone who knows this little fellow, better not say a word!

Blueberry Lace Dress

I love making up names for these dresses I make.  I used about 3 different pattern pieces and added some lace and a skinny belt.  I think it turned out pretty good.  Not perfect but pretty good.
Hour wise, this dress didn't take too long, but it's taken me about 3 weeks to find the time to finish it.  None of the pictures are super great.  Max (who is 4) took most of them so..........

I'm so awesome, my lace is about 2 inches short on my left arm.  After much deliberation, I decided to just sew on what I had and buy some more to finish the job.
