A Day in Pictures

8am.  Look at that hair!

10am.
Yes I'm geeky.  I draw "to scale" room models with furniture so I can figure out how to arrange a room.  I've done it  ever since I was little  (10 or 12 years old )with my bedroom.  This one is of our office.

 1pm.

 2pm.

 3pm

 5pm.

Lilly drew up, and made a robot.  ( Complete with guns and lasers...and a bunch of Max's ridings toys all stacked on top each other. ) When I came down to take a picture of her "made" robot she had already dissembled it and was not happy that she had, since I had my camera.  She was crying and held her picture up in front of her face.  Poor thing.

 All day long
Yep!  A whole lot of nothing.  Sometimes it's nice to do that.

Patriotic Program

Sorry it doesn't seem to be working.
All the first graders at Lilly's school did a Patriotic Program tonight.  Here is a short video of Lilly coming in to the auditorium while singing "Take Your Hat Off."

Here she is saying her part.   She did a great job and we're so proud of her!

Recycled Outfit

So I've had this plain gray shirt (size Large) sitting around for years.  Years I tell you!  Like at least 8 or 9.  I've never known quite what to do with it.  The one good thing about being a hoarder (I'm  kidding.....sort of) is you don't throw things away because you MIGHT need it someday.  Well someday came today for an old but never been worn gray shirt and the pant legs off of a pair of mine or my husbands old pants. (It's seriously been too long to remember.)  I made Max a pair of shorts with the pant legs and re-sized the shirt to a 5T.  Here's how:

1) First I traced around one of Max's shirts.  I traced it onto some paper that's meant for covering up  paintings  or drawings done with charcoal and/or pencil in art to protect them.  But I also use it for patterns and all kinds of things.  It comes in BIG rolls at art supply stores.  I laid the pattern on top of the shirt so that I could use the existing neck hole and shoulder seams.

 2) I cut the shirt out and then cut the sleeves off the big shirt and then measured the sleeves on the little shirt and took the extra off where the seam meets in the shoulder.  Thus leaving the hemmed part intact.

 3) Next, I wanted to make Max a Monster Truck shirt of his favorite Monster Truck, Grave Digger.  So I drew it on with Fabric Markers and Puffy Paint before I sewed the shirt up.

 4) I'm really bad at these tutorials because I have no pictures of the last steps.  I sewed the sleeves onto the body of the shirt and then sewed from the hemmed part of the sleeve, all the way down the sides, to the bottom of the shirt.   And  then hemmed up the bottom.

Here are the shorts I made for him out of the pant legs of the before mentioned old pair of pants.  I just used the same pattern I did for the Elastic band shorts.

 Hope he likes it!

What's in my Bag?

I laughed when I dumped the contents of my purse out!  Here is my purse first of all.  Got it at Uncle Sams Army surplus store.  I love this style and color of bag.  I think I own probably 3 or 4 similar to this.
They are really durable and last forever!

Yeah! I keep really important things in my purse.
3 ikea pencils
2 pens
lipstick I think I've worn once
Arby's coupons
underwear for my little boy
receipts
knitted ear covering
Wallet
dental appointment reminder cards
hair scrunchy (yes I still wear them)
empty plastic bag that held nickels at Nickel City
Handcuff tag (that came from Nickel City)
I thought it would be fun to show what Lilly has in her purse too.  One of her purses.  She has probably 5 or 6.  All of them filled to the top with nick nacks.  I chose this one because it's the smallest.

She keeps all the important things in her purse too.  Like Mother like daughter I guess.
Pirate gold
Crown tag that came off a pair of clothes
Bubble wand
Pirate eye patch
Heart tin with bouncy balls
Monkey ring
Gold Pirate earring
Mini Hair brush
Pirate finger sword
Kazoo
broken pirate telescope
Compass watch
Hair brush
Elf, fairy, and My Little Pony figurines
Heart Pez dispenser
and a bunch of  random things she has made

Monster Jam

Jarrett and Max got to go to the Monster Jam on Saturday together .  So I will let the mister blog about it.
This picture is right before the show started and they were getting the track ready and we had some nice seats, row 13 away from the carnage.
Max's favorite monster truck GRAVEDIGGER! I had to get a picture of it for Max.

Almost ready to start!

The show finally starts!  The lights were dimmed down, thats why this picture is colored different.
 First events were the races.
Loud and dusty, just the way it should be!

Max's favorite.

This is a cool go-cart.  The car weights as much as one monster truck tire.  The engine is basically the same horsepower as a monster truck.  The best part about this thing is it goes about 240-250 mph!  When the driver drove this thing around the arena, you could feel the heat from the flame even where we were.

This is a trip to the brains, the next attraction was snowmobiles jumping off a big ramp.

The best part of these shows is the freestyle, total destruction.

Toro Loco!

Bounty Hunter won the freestyle.

This was the best part of the show because its what Max always like to see, a monster truck crash.

Gravedigger was the last truck to go, but it was a big upset because the truck went for a cool jump, but it ended up upside down.  The cool thing about it i guess was Max got to see another monster truck crash.  After the show Max and I went to Carl's jr and came home with some good memories.
