Tick Toc Croc

Max and Lilly were invited to a Peter Pan themed birthday party and were asked to dress as their favorite Neverland character.  Max chose the Crocodile.  I made a pattern similar to to a hooded jacket and the yellow stomach was actually a mistake.  The felt was too tight.  I made the yellow stomach out of an old yellow ribbed tank top.

Max loved the costume and wore it pretty much non stop for a few days.

Cowboy Shirt

Found this awesome shirt at D.I. for pennies, took in the sides (each 2 inches) and hemmed the sleeves up about 2 inches.  It's my new favorite shirt!!!

Recent Up cycles

First I made Max a pair of pants out of a pair of Jarrett's old cords. ...using the existing fly and buttons and pockets.  I also reinforced the knees with two layers of  the original pants.  (I've learned my lesson there)

I have yet to hem the bottoms.
I'm waiting for fall and I know how much he's grown.
Last year we bought max and Lilly some pants in summer (for the fall) and then come fall, they didn't fit in the legs.  Too short.  Even though I thought we bought them plenty long enough.

Then I made Lilly a shirt out of one of Jarrett's old shirts.  She loves it and wore it last weekend, Friday through Monday.  She tried to wear it again on Tuesday, but I said enough is enough.  It needs to be washed.

Pajamas

I took mine and Jarrett's old t-shirt collection and made a pattern using one of Max's old pajamas and made a bunch of pajamas for the kids.

Horrible picture of Max but I made everything the kids are wearing.  Shorts and tops.  And Max's heating bag.

Another not so good picture of Max, but he is wearing another one the pajamas I made him.

Duffle Bags

Made some little duffle bags for the kids.
Someone asked me if I could make one for their kid, and I made these 2 for practice before sewing the one I was giving away.
They were really pretty easy.
I used this tutorial HERE.

Little Blue Jacket

Made this cute blue on blue jacket for Lilly  and it's awesome, except that it's a huge failure.
For one, it doesn't zip all the way to the top, the fabric stretched and now the zipper is too short.
That would be fine.  I could live with that.
This fabric is super thin and I didn't want a heavy metal zipper on it so I bought a lighter weight zipper. Problem is, it's made for a skirt or dress.
So it doesn't unzip all the way.
FAIL!!!
Learned my lesson though!

Halloween Pillow

Drew this up and made a freezer paper stencil and painted it on some fabric using fabric paint and then sewed it up.  Halloween pillow.

Lilly's Pre-Baptism Pictures

I should definitely NOT be awake right now.  A Thunderstorm woke me.  I ran outside with a flashlight to turn off the sprinkler system...pretty much the scariest thing I've done today...yet.  I haven't spoken at Lilly's Baptism yet or bawled like a baby in front of my entire family while giving before said talk.
But enough about me.  Here's Lilly:
I made Lilly's dress from an old bed sheet.  I LOVE the faint stripes in it.  It's made of super soft material and is (well looks) super comfortable.
Things have been VERY (beyond) stressful around here lately and this dress took a record number of days to complete.  I'm not even going to say.  It was a super easy pattern and Lilly opted for it be plain. She didn't want any of the ruffle or bow options shown on the pattern.  And I think for a Baptism dress it works wonderfully.

New Blankets

While we were in Arizona, I went with Jarrett's mom to Ace Hardware.   We went there to get some tissue paper for Jarrett's mom to trace a pattern piece on it.  They sell fabric at Ace Hardware in Ft. Defiance.  It's a small town.   So we were looking around at the fabric and we saw some Batman fabric and some Hello Kitty Fabric and SKELANIMALS fabric. So we decided to make blankets for Lilly Max and Paikia.

So back to the Ace Hardware store.  This young boy came to help us with the fabric.  The poor kid.  We had fronts, backs and batting to be cut, for 3 different blankets.  so six different cuts of 2 yards.  He had no fabric background.  Ha ha!  He was cutting so slow!!! I think it took him 45 minutes to cut all that fabric.  Ha ha! Then when he finished the cutting, we asked him where the blanket binding was and he had no idea what we were talking about so Jarrett's mom said "trim."  (They keep all that stuff like lace and bias tape and blanket binding locked up because of theft) so he went to go get us our blanket binding or "trim" if you will.

This is what he brought out.
Hot pink fringe.
We laughed so hard.
Jarrett's Mom said "We arent' that fancy."
It still makes me laugh.

Matchy Match Shorts

Made Lilly and Max matching shorts.  Was going to add ruffles to Lilly's but she did NOT want them.  Go figure, she takes after her mother at that age.  I learned how to make side pockets and pockets with flaps for the back.  Also the faux fly.
Since without a head shot, it's hard to tell who is who, this is Lilly.

And this is Max
Different buttons and a few more pockets for Max.

This is his TNT money pocket.
He loves ACDC's TNT because a lot of Monster truck compilation on YouTube that he loves to watch have it.
He also loves explosions and bombs....and more recently, fireworks because they say TNT on the box and well........he's a boy.

The Bodies in the Outfits

As promised here we are
I made Max's pants and tie this year.  I think the tie turned out pretty cute.  I just sorta made it up as I went, using an existing clip on tie for reference.  I put elastic on it for the back for easy slip on and off.
Wish I had a close up of the pants and stitching.

Made Lilly's dress.

Sadly this was the best picture of us all.

Here's a not so good picture of my shoes and a great picture picture of my veiny feet! Oh well.
Happy Easter!!!
