Watercolor Wednesday Week 24

Each week I usually split it up with Sunday evening thru Wednesday painting and then Thursday until Sunday evening sewing.  But this week I didn't do any sewing (except for a small project which I'll share later) so I actually have 3 paintings to share this week.  I finally feel like I'm getting back into the groove of things after being on vacation for 10 days.  So here they are three very different paintings:

Iris's:

Rock study:

ocean surf:

  1. they are all beautiful.I love irises, the rock study is so good.I find painting the hard edges on rocks challenging,, no problem with the round ones.I'm more acustomed to painting with acyrilics and always find the pallette knif handy for rocks,, can't do that with watercolors,, I'm learning as I go,, making all kinds of boo boos,

I love the contrast of the soft blurred background with the more detailed foreground in the irises... so beautifully effective!
