Halloween Twenty Ten

This year, at Lilly's school they said no Halloween costumes until after lunch.  But you can come help them get ready at 12:20.  And then come back again for the Halloween parade at 1:00,  and then come pick them up at 2:00.  Yes, it was as miserable as it sounds...mostly for Max, who wasn't feeling well. But at least I didn't have Giardia  this year and it wasn't snowing and 20 degrees like last year.

Anyways, here is Lilly in her classroom in her black cat costume.  Which, as I was waiting in the lunchroom for the Halloween Parade to start, realized that I never painted her 'cat nose'.  It's a good thing she didn't realize.

Then after all that waiting, I din't even get a very good picture of her.   Only a blurry 'back' picture.
Here is Lilly (black cat, with nose I might add), Max ( a ninja, which he has worn every day for the last month) and me ( Morticia Addams)

Jarrett was Jon (from the TV show Delocated) it's pretty funny and worth checking out.

Amelia (She was the vampire from League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and I.  She did a good job with her costume.

Pumpkin Carving

On Thursday, Jarrett got home from work early, so we decided to take advantage of it and make it a Halloween Evening. We started by going out to eat at Noodles and Company.  As always, it was delicious.  Then we came home and carved our pumpkin.    Then we drove around to look at some of our favorite Halloween houses.   After that we came home and watched some Halloween Simpson's.

Max was absolutely disgusted by the whole thing.  Look at his face!

Pumpkin, with the flash on.

We decided to go REALLY  simple this year.  I'm glad we did.  I'd also never had a pumpkin with a frown, so there you go.

First Grade Field Trip

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go with Lilly and her class, on their field trip to Rowley's Southridge Farms.  They are located in Santaquin, Utah. I had never even heard of them, but I'm glad I  have now.  They have a whole store of fruits (dried and fresh) that they grow right there on their farm.  They have peaches, apples, cherries, blueberries, pumpkins and a lot more.   At Halloween time, they have a hay ride out to their pumpkin patch that you can go on and you can choose your own pumpkin.

Here are the kids, getting onto the bus.

Lilly on the hay ride.

Yesterday we learned about apples and how they grow and pick and deliver them to stores.

Everyone got to pick their own apple.

October Snow

Believe it or not, this picture was taken yesterday, October 27th. Yes, we got a lot of snow! But the kids had a lot of fun playing in it before Lilly had to go to school.

Just disregard the hideous telephone pole from the neighbors yard, that is behind Lilly's head. That is a huge photography no-no.
                                                        There we go, much better!

Look what Lilly Made

Lilly loves to make books! I mean really LOVES to make books! She makes probably 3 a day and she always tells me that she wants to be a book maker when she grows up, that is when she doesn't want to be a teacher, an acrobat or a card maker.  Usually she just staples together some construction paper....But when her school had their book fair, I stumbled upon a kit to "Make your own book." and I decided that she just had to have it!
This last weekend she caught the flu or something and so we were stuck inside and home and so I  decided that this was the perfect time for her to make her book and here it is! (Well not all of it,its like 12 pages.)

Look you can tell she's sick:(

Cute book huh! She did a great job! Here's to more book making!

The Quilt

So here is the quilt that I made on Friday! It was actually really fun and fast to make.  It measures 42 by 62 inches and I used an old bed sheet instead of batting, for a lighter weight "blanket" instead of a heavy quilt.

I used pink thread to "machine quilt" it, to add some interest on the back. My family gave me two thumbs up!
Here is a sneak peak at the next one! I can't wait!
