Watercolor Wednesday Week 30

There have been a few questions concerning my artwork and my background that I will try to answer.  First off most of my paintings are done on quarter sheet or half sheet Arches Watercolor paper.  Quarter sheet measure 15 inches by 11inches and half sheet measures 22 1/2 by 15inches.  The two I posted today are quarter sheet.
As for my background, you can get a detailed explanation HERE.  But long story short, my father and grandmother were both watercolorists and I had a little instruction from them when I was little. About 8 months ago I took it up again, and as neither my father or grandmother are still living, I've had to learn for myself.  I do have lots of paintings that they did to study though so that helps.  Plus a plethora of books on the subject at my disposal.
I have really come to love painting and I think it makes you look at the world in a different and unique way and really appreciate nature.

  13. oh wow - I love that black drizzle of paint over the sunflower. so stormy and such great contrast. I'm also loving the texture in the autumn painting and the way the crisp white birch trunks stand out against that soft focus of leaves.

  20. Lovely work here, as always. Are the black lines in the first one done with tar gel?

  21. On the Sunflowers I used a can of "Webbing Spray" It was bought at Hobby Lobby about 12 years ago by my father. Not sure if they still sell it but it comes in black, gold, white and other colors. You can spray it on before or after you've painted. The company is "illinois Bronze" It's kind of like spray paint meets spiderman! ha ha!
