Monday's are my busiest days. It's the day I change the sheets on the beds, clean the bathroom, vacuum and mop the floors, and do all the laundry. I could split it up and do something each day (which is what I did when I was pregnant and had no energy and when the kids were younger) but that just prolongs the awfulness. Besides I'd rather take one day and then spend the rest of the week playing with kids and painting or sewing. On the other days of the week I choose a "monthly card." They look like this:
Just index cards with a chore that I'd like have done at least once a month such as those shown and some others include: Organizing the pantry (and throwing out old or stale food), organize the linen closet, wipe out the cupboards, wash the couch blankets, wipe tops of doors, etc. Anything you want to have cleaned at least once a month. I have about 30 of these cards (one for each day of the month.) I just keep these cards in our office and then once a day I'll pick one to do and just rotate through them. Somedays I don't do any and some days I'll do 2 or 3 it just depends on how the day is going. How do you do your cleaning? What works for you?
I admire so the people who are so organized. Its just hubby and I, because of my sight I clean poorly but still go through the motions, we have a small apartment now and its very easy to keep.I wish I had had your method years ago, very clever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous little system! Very clever, and then its not about procrastination or finding the time. I could get some things done at work that seem to find there way to the low priority end of things!
ReplyDeleteThat is way too organised.... I work on the invite somebody over method of house cleaning.... and then the few hours before they come I rush around and do all the jobs I have been neglecting. Yours is a little more organised!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for the comments! My husband and I used to joke that it was a good thing people came over to our house or it would never get cleaned!
